WHO SPONSORS THE PROGRAM?
The Prevention Research Center (PRC),
a division of the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation
(PIRE), in collaboration with the School of Public Health
at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB), are the sponsors
of the program. This program is funded by the National Institute
on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) of the National Institutes
of Health, grant number T32 AA014125-05, titled "Prevention
Science Research Training Program."

WHAT IS THE PROGRAM?
The Prevention Science Research Training Program will enrich the capabilities of postdoctoral fellows and provide them with insight and skills pertinent to successful scientific careers. The program is specifically designed to:
- Facilitate the postdoctoral researcher’s development of his/her own unique areas of expertise through intensive trainee mentorship.
- Provide trans-disciplinary training with special emphasis on environmental approaches to the prevention of alcohol abuse and related problems.
- Deliver a core curriculum of seminars that provide overall training and expertise on basic issues related to prevention research in alcohol studies.
- Offer extensive training in grant writing, with special emphasis given to assisting fellows in applications to the National Institutes of Health.
- Provide training in scientific ethics, social justice and human subject issues in public health and prevention research.
