Family Influences on Young Adult Maturity and Drinking


Sydney Jay, Associate Research Scientist at the Prevention Research Center, is Principal Investigator of the "Family Influences on Young Adult Maturity" study. Sydney completed her Ph.D. in Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley and her M.S.W. at the University of Houston. Prior to joining the Prevention Research Center, she was the Clinical Director for the Family Counseling Services of Northern Nevada, and worked in private practice. She was an Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she worked as the Project Director for the Child Welfare Training Grant and later as the Principal Investigator. She has authored a number of publications on alcohol-related problems in relation to family structure.
