Military Work and Drinking: Risks and Prevention


Carol Cunradi, Associate Research Scientist at Prevention Research Center, is Project Director of the "Military Work and Drinking" study, and is Survey Manager of two NIAAA-funded studies: "Worksite-Related Alcohol Behavior in Urban Transit Drivers" and "Drinking and Young Adults in the Workplace," and a Department of Defense (DOD) funded study: "Drinking, Cultural Norms, and High Risk Sexual Behavior Among Young Adults." She is the proposed Co-Director of the PRC alcohol center grant component, "Work, Alcohol and Intimate Partner Violence." Carol completed her Ph.D. in Epidemiology, and her Master of Public Health degree in the Epidemiology/Biostatistics program, at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health. She has expertise in quantitative data analysis, and has extensive experience analyzing national alcohol survey data. As part of her doctoral research, Carol received funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to conduct the first multilevel study, based on a national sample of married and cohabiting couples, analyzing the contribution of neighborhood socioeconomic factors and alcohol-related problems to the risk of intimate partner violence. She has authored or coauthored a number of publications on alcohol-related problems and correlates of intimate partner violence.
