Model of Surveillance of California Tobacco Control Policies


David Levy received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California Los Angeles and has been engaged in public health research for over 20 years. As a Senior Research Scientist at Pacific Institute his work has involved cost analyses of various alcohol-related problems, cost-benefit analyses of alcohol and injury prevention and managed care, and prevention evaluation research. For the past three years, he has served as Chief Modeler on the Institute's tobacco computer simulation modeling project, SimSmoke. He is expert in complex systems analyses and mathematical modeling of complex systems. Dr. Levy is also the Principle Investigator on studies funded by the National Institute on
Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He has published over 60 papers, including several articles related to his work on SimSmoke that have appeared or will soon appear in the American Journal of Public Health, Journal of Public Health Management and Practice, and Preventive Medicine.
